Wait, what do you mean you've never been to a festival? Like, never been to a big name one, or a multi-day one? Never traveled out of town for one? Or like literally never been to a concert where there were more than 3 or 4 bands playing? Cuz that seems strange to me - of course you were probably too young when Lollapalooza was touring, but still, never?

weird.

I'd urge you to catch Merle Haggard. You'll be surprised at how entertained you will be.

i mean, i've never been to a festival. as in, never been to a big name one, a multi-day one, traveled out of town for one, or been to a concert where there were more than 3 or 4 bands playing. yes. i know, it's weird. but until i started coming to texas, i had only been to a handful of concerts in general. from a pretty young age, my dance and theater schedule prohibited me from being able to go out, especially on weekends when most festivals/concerts are.

I was telling katie about him. a few years ago at star seeds in austin i was having breakfast and this awesome noise that was awesome was coming out of the speaker, asked the waiter who it was and he said fela kuti. he went onto explain about him being dead and that we should check out femi. so we drove to the record store and did. pretty friggin awesome.

Having been to many festivals, including that one, all I can say is 1) be prepared to be dirty, 2) be prepared to stand in line for stinky porta-loos, and 3) it will be awesome. From experience, I can say that particular festival is particularly warm. At least it was when I was there. Hot and humid.

No shortage of great acts to see either.

I'm hoping my old ass can survive. i reckon it will be a lot like ACL and Mardi Gras, a couple things I've done that the excitement leading up to and the fun during outweighs the holyfuckthatwastough hangover.

some friends went last year and camped. they really recommend getting the VIP camping section. It's better location in the camping area and the show area. Well worth the extra money.

looked into the VIP thing, looks like you have to buy the VIP package(includes all kinds of VIP things including the camping) which is around 675 and the normal ticket is 250.
