I'm not but you should do like a lot of bands that play sxsw, head 3 hours north to dallas for a night or two. Usually a lot of good shows to see.

Thanks for the tips guys. My girlfriend I and are heading over on the 13th. March, and staying with friends in a town called Bryan. We're heading to Austin from the 16th-20th. We have accomodation from the 17th-20th, can anyone recommend somewhere my girlfriend and I could stay on the 16th?

I'm not playing unfortunately James, just seeing bands. :)

So, you are staying in Bryan to go to SXSW? You do know that Bryan is about 100 miles from Austin, right? That's not a terrible thing (I did similarly during several years of college in Waco), but wasn't sure if you were aware of the distances.

We're staying in Bryan as Claire (the missus) has friends who stay there. We'll stay with them except for the 4 days we've got in Austin. It's a bit off a long drive, but it'll only be there and back once.

Look like we have accommodation sorted for Austin too, hooray!

How hot is it this time of year in Texas? I've been before in July and the heat nearly killed me. This is due to Aberdeen barely getting above 15C most of the year round though.

march is WAY better than july. i'd guess lots of 70s-80s for highs and 40s-60s for lows.

A safe bet for Texas weather is to expect it to be all of the above.
It could be anything from toasty and sunny to a cold rain in March.

They way this year has been going, it'll fucking snow in Dallas and be 30C in Austin.
