Question: Is this rude?

Postby mere1975 » Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:15 pm

Today at a luncheon for a professional society, they asked people looking for jobs to stand up, give some background about themselves, and say what kind of job they are looking for. Just as one lady stood up and spoke, the waiters started filling pitchers with ice and the noise totally drowned out her little speech.

I laughed.

Is that rude?

What I love about banquet waitstaff is that they really are just robots. Way way back in undergrad I did a couple of banquets for some easy cash and was really shocked to see that both waiter and guest really couldn't give two shits if either of them was there.

The short of it, yes it was rude for the waiters to drown her out with the ice filling, but, then again, they are on a timed schedule without much wiggle room.

You laughing; that's just natural. No foul there.

It's only rude if you point. Right?

This morning I blamed a coworker for someting that I thought was screwed up I didn't tattle or anything, I just got kinda pissy with him. Turns out it wasn't screwed up after all, and when I realized that I fessed up, and told him 'I apoligize, but only *a little bit.*'

On a scale of 10, how rude was that?

i say not rude to both questions posed. i think sunny's is especially not rude cause it's standup to admit to someone that you made a mistake, even if you're only a little sorry for it.
