Tipping at restaurants is expected. The service will astound you, especially in Dallas, which is probably the restaurant capital of the world. 15% is a minimum, 20-25% for good to exceptional service.
Whoaaaah. That is a big tip. Right, I'm not taking my hosts out to dinner anymore

It's still cheaper than the UK. Much. And you get free soft drink refills in most places.

Or, at the very least, the mega Waffle House breakfast.
at 3am! We can play the Waffle House song.
If you know what's good for you, do not play any of the Waffle House songs. We got all but threatened with death once in school for doing that.

one of our favorite things here at work is to hit the Waffle House and play the "Special Lady" song on the jukebox.

The subtle lyrical complexities of Waffle House Thank You are outstanding, to say the least.

It was the WH workers who were pissed. We were there studying sometime around 1 or 2 in the morning and this girl put two or three songs on the jukebox just because the names sounded cute. They all stared at us for a good five minutes.

I'd like to take you around!

and about walking... i love walking too, but everything is so spread out. i still do sometimes, but i guess i'm tolerant to the heat.

definately go for some tex mex, but i'm afraid if you're not used to it it could make you sick. (theres medicine to prevent that, actually)

and hey guys, i've never heard so much about sunscreen in my life! it makes me afraid to leave the US.. will i become very pale?
Now I've seen a blue beginning
And I've seen a blue 'the end'
Set the scene for seaward swimming
Dim the stage again

I have to back Sam up here. I have it on good authority from WH waitresses that they hate all Waffle House songs. If you get really bad service there, the ultimate revenge is not a bad tip, but to put in a few bucks and play all those songs as you're leaving.

But then you'll never find out how much fun it is to be a backwoods psycho.
