I know. My husband is going to be in Austin AND we have tickets to Jenny Lewis at the Ridglea on the 25th.

He was trying to talk me into driving down to go with him but I don't really like going to Dallas for shows mid-week so he was unsuccessful.

BTW - the new CD (major label debut) is really good.

I'm listening to songs on their Web site and I likey.

Is anyone going to the Wednesday show at Gypsy? I want to (as long as I finish my art history project -- which gives me motivation to do it tonight.)

They're playing Shepherd's Bush Empire in Feb and I'm so there. I wish I could see them at Stubbs. Stubbs > Any Dallas venue, but then there's 1) the drive and 2) the indier-than-thou austinites. But the sound...

Stubbs > Any Dallas venue
amen. let's get some investors together and create an open air venue somewhere up here.

NOW!

yeah, it's been tried though. I think the problem is two-fold. One, the city of Dallas has a lot of problems and a lot of people don't want venues in their backyards, esp open air ones where noise can be heard, and two, that whole issue of "security"...meaning, people who work security at shows are mostly from one company and really put people off attending due to their idiotic presence. It's sad really, because Dallas (and Houston...and probably San Antonio) have the population to support these things, but due to city politics, no investors want any part of it. Austin is different because it's built around live music.

It would be awesome though, but Dallas needs a sea change before it ever happens.
